What if Oscar the Grouch accidentally became an artist?
To celebrate Sesame Street’s 50th Anniversary, we partnered with Sesame Street for our first-ever holiday campaign starring everyone’s favorite Grouch. In A Cautionary Tale, Oscar is discovered by a passerby who mistakes his trash piles for art. Much to his dismay, he’s suddenly thrust into the spotlight as an emerging artist and pushed to launch his own website. With a little help from Squarespace, Oscar reluctantly becomes a creative entrepreneur.
We designed every element of Oscar’s world from his online gallery and fully functional e-commerce site to the newspaper headlines and all the smallest visual details featured in the film. Every piece was crafted to feel true to Oscar and his world.
The campaign extended beyond the film with a limited-edition drop of 25 “Trash” boxes, each filled with Oscar’s favorite discarded items from Sesame Street. Proceeds from the collection were donated to Sesame Workshop in support of their mission to help kids grow smarter, stronger and kinder.
